1. A clean bill of health: My CT scan, which is now an annual event, was all clear. My labs were great with a CEA &lt;0.3 (essentially below the detection limit). The wise old sage of oncology at Tripler wrapped up my visit by saying simply “you’re in great shape!”. 
2. The subject was the technique and art of gyotaku – “fish printing”. This is a popular form of fishing art where the actual fish is inked like a big stamp, and an impression made upon paper. The artist then paints in the colors and details such as the eye.

It was an even bigger crowd than the Honolulu Marathon, and almost completely composed of folks from the island (recall that the marathon appeared to be largely Japanese tourists). I completed my goal of finishing the Honolulu marathon, or as I call it, the Tokyo Marathon sponsored by Hawaii.

I did better than the last race. Now I just feel slow.
What a difference two weeks make. I spent more time in the pool, working sprints and trying to develop a more efficient stroke. I ate better and rested up two days prior to the race, and ensured I had a full nights’ rest prior to the race.
